Cranberries and pine cones are like Santa and Rudolph, like Frosty and his button nose, like Elf and maple syrup. They just pair so nicely together during the holidays! I have always loved a little rustic touch for the holiday season, and this cranberry and pine cone garland brings the holiday joy to mantles, Christmas trees and window ledges. Use this for both Thanksgiving and Christmas interior decor.
I love that this garland brings freshness to the Christmas decor, as well as that beloved rustic charm. Initially this began after being inspired by another post, and I decided it was time to spruce up the mantle – pun intended. Make this garland in less time than it takes to watch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Since it does involve fresh cranberries, be aware it lasts approximately one week. Enjoy and be sure to share pictures!
Cranberry & Pine Cone Garland
Supplies:
- Yarn Needle
- Jute Twine
- Fresh bag of cranberries
- Small – Medium Pine Cones
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
Directions:
- Measure out the desired length of jute needed; add an additional 12″ of jute to hang garland. Thread the yarn needle with the jute. Once you get to the desired strand length, double the amount of jute so that the strand is two strings thick. Tie a knot at the end of the strand.
- String on 10 cranberries, leaving 6 inches at the end of the strand to be bare without cranberries.
- Using a hot glue gun, glue the jute to the base of the pine cone. Allow a couple of minutes for it to dry.
- String on 6 more cranberries. Glue on a pine cone. Repeat this step until the strand is almost full.
- At the end of the strand, again string on 10 cranberries. Allow the remaining 6 inches to be bare.
- Hang on a mantle, Christmas tree or window ledge.
I hope you have a wonderful day!
Live your life joyfully so,
Ashley
