Hi friends! I hope 2018 has started off in a great fashion for you! Did anyone make any 2018 New Year’s resolutions to start the new year? I am not one to make resolutions however this year it just felt right to make a few changes – for the better.
My first goal is to spend more time with friends and family. Work at the hospital and a growing Joyfully So make free time very limited. I hope to see more of those I care about, near and far, and embrace the time together. By nature I am always working on something so this will be a challenge to put life into a new perspective. But I am already looking at flights to go back to visit family a few times this year and hope to have an extended holiday break in 2018, as I worked through Christmas and New Years this past season. Now that my nephews are getting a little older I want them to know me as their Aunt, rather than a lady on the phone.
A second goal is to decrease sugar intake. It’s true when they say sugar is an addiction – in fact it is eight times more addicting than cocaine! My usual indulgent snacks consist of chocolate chips, ice cream and gummy bears, and this especially becomes apparent on stressful ER shifts. I started thinking about how much this is costing me – financially, emotionally and physically. It was time to bid farewell for at least a little while. Starting a couple days ago, I cut out almost all sugar from my diet. Semi-cold turkey. It’s been challenging but I have been balancing out cravings with a lot of water and maybe some Chic-fil-a diet lemonade. I am hoping to continue almost zero sugar from desserts/fruits for at least 10 days, and hopefully overall decrease my sugar in general from there on.
In the mean time, I have loved this new top my boyfriend gave me for Christmas. Not only is it the perfect shade of purple for my alma mater, TCU, but it has the cutest polka dot interior print! I paired it with these favorite purple mules that have glamorous embellishments that add a sparkly, shimmer in the light. The mules just sold out from Nordstrom but I found a back up shop. Both this lavish purple top and purple mules are on major sale right now! At the 2017 New York Fashion Week, purple was predicted to be the hot color for 2018, so this is the time to get an early start on the trend at an affordable price. The 2018 Pantone Color of the Year is official Ultra Violet, similar to this shade. It will be purple reign moving forward!
