Happy holidays! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Michael and I celebrated our first Thanksgiving as newlyweds and I started the morning with the tradition of watching the Macy’s Day Parade. The house is starting to look and feel a lot like Christmas now, and I am loving it! We have two trees with completely different styles. While I am no Christmas tree decorating expert, I invite you inside our home to start the Christmas celebration early.
Living Room – Flocked Metallics
The tree: I have always wanted a flocked tree and finally took the plunge and ordered one! Well… truth be told, it actually took a few trips to Home Depot until we found the right fit. Our first attempt was a “sparkling” flocked tree and just opening the box ignited a glitter explosion on the floor. This tree was a better fit! At 9 feet tall, it’s stunning!
The style: We had so much fun picking out ornaments. This is truly a tree where the pictures don’t do it justice.
Before we added ornaments, we cascaded wired ribbon in a ruffled pattern down the sides. Next, we incorporated several gold and silver round ornaments on the inner branches. This bulk pack of ornaments was a great variety and these had a nice shimmer. Most of the tree is made up of metallic ornaments.
We found a few GORGEOUS ornaments to dress up the tree. These stars were our favorites! We ended up buying them in both white and gold. When the light hits them, they emit a little twinkle. These are similar, but smaller and in snowflake form.
Master Bedroom – Traditional Style
The tree: 6 foot Alberta Spruce (Pre-lit version) This is a very simple, classic tree. These are affordable, easy to assemble and store away after the holidays!
The skirt: Rather than buy a second tree skirt, I did a quick DIY using a faux fur blanket. Simply fold the blanket in a triangle, wrap it around the base of the tree and tuck all the edges under. You can watch my quick video tutorial, and a second DIY tree skirt below.
The Ornaments: Nothing fancy on this tree except a little holiday spirit. We used bulk red ornaments, red berry picks, and gold clip-on flowers from Walmart. I added one to the very top to double as a tree topper.
The Room: This tree was part of a master bedroom mini-makeover. We first painted the room, added a new rug and Christmas decor. For the decor, we used rustic pillows, wall art and decor to fill the space. Our favorite is this pair of skis! We may live in Texas, but this brings in nostalgic memories of skiing and family activities.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Live your life joyfully so,
Ashley
