I am way overdue for a house update. This is a small part of a huge makeover I’m working on: curb appeal! There is no denying when I bought this house it needed a little TLC. The house is very loved, but its style dates back to the mid-century. One of the easiest ways to makeover the front door is with paint and a seasonal wreath.
I will go more in depth in the front door makeover soon. But basically it went from a monochromatic palette to a fresh, vibrant contrasting blue. I also painted the trim a bright white to match the window frames. See the transformation I captured on my phone during the process.
It’s amazing how much a little weekend work can change the overall appearance. The front door makeover is not done yet, more to come soon!
As for the wreath, I am SO excited to finally create and set out fall decor. The fall and holiday seasons always give me those warm, fuzzy feeling that I yearn for all year round. This wreath is easy, versatile and so pretty! It was inspired by another tutorial I read.
I love adding a little pop of color to the front door so I chose fall colors that boldly contrast the deep blue door.
DIY Fall Hydrangea Wreath
Supplies:
- Faux Hydrangeas in 3-5 colors – about 20 stems total
- Faux Marigolds or Spider Daisies – about 5 stems, optional
- Floral Wire Cutters
- Grapevine Wreath
- Wreath Hanger
Directions:
- Cut floral stems to length of 8 inches using floral wire cutters
- Place hydrangea stems into grapevine wreath, alternating colors
- If desired, add a few marigolds or spider daisies
- Secure stems with floral wire and cut remaining ends of stems
- Hang on door
- Alternative Option: Use only a few hydrangea stems on one side of the wreath, attach a large monogram wooden letter on the opposite side, tie a large burlap ribbon on top.
There are so many way to create this wreath! Get creative with colors and extra details. I love a having inspiration before creating something, so I included ideas of similar wreaths below.
