Game Day Ideas: Hot Wing Recipe and Bingo!

Hello! With football games in the playoffs and the Super Bowl just around the corner, I thought it’d be fun to share a couple ideas! Yes, Super Bowl will look differently this year, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be celebrated and enjoyed in a different way. No fumbles here! We have a Bingo printable that can be played over Zoom with friends and an incredible grilled chicken wing recipe that tastes just as delicious the next day as leftovers!

Football Bingo

Print off a few Bingo sheets and stay entertained during the commercials by marking your spots! Use candy or markers to check the box. This works great with a small group of friends or family over Zoom, too!

Snack Ideas

Game day snacks are some of my all-time favorites! You can never go wrong with chips and salsa, crackers with cheese and fresh cut veggies with ranch. Another easy favorite is pigs in a blanket using crescent rolls wrapped around smoked cocktail sausages (Michael loves using the Hawaiian rolls for this!). Serve pretzel crackers with this spiced up jalapeño spread and garnish with a thin slice of jalapeño. Create Caprese salad skewers using a cherry tomato, fresh basil leaf and small mozzarella ball drizzled with balsamic vinegar. And of course, grill some hot wings for the ultimate game day treat!

Michael’s Grilled Chicken Wing Recipe

Oh my goodness, these are so delicious and always a popular item! These have the option to marinade in a seasoned hot sauce overnight, or can be thrown on the grill and prepared in less than an hour. As a caution, these are medium to hot in spice intensity. Serving with ranch or blue cheese dressing adds a cool and flavorful balance! These wings store well in a tupperware dish and can be enjoyed as leftovers the following day.

Ingredients

Chicken Wing Marinade:

Chicken Wing Hot Sauce:

Garnishments:

  • Ranch dressing
  • Carrots
  • Celery

Instructions

  • Marinade (Optional): Place chicken wing drummettes into a large ziploc bag. In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, Cholula hot sauce, garlic herb seasoning and citrus juice. Pour sauce over chicken wing drummettes and allow to marinate overnight.
  • Prepare the grill to medium-high heat. Spray grates with olive oil. Add wings to the grill, turning wings occasionally. Grill wings for approximately 15-25 minutes, until meat is cooked thoroughly with a slightly charred skin. Place wings into a large casserole dish.
  • Make the hot wing sauce: Melt butter in a medium sauce pan over low to medium heat. Stir in basil, Frank’s RedHot Sauce, Tabasco sauce, citrus juice and packets of Italian dressing seasoning. Simmer, stirring frequently.
  • Pour hot wing sauce over the wings in the casserole dish. Stir wings until they are coated evenly with sauce.
  • Add hot wings back onto the grill for 2-5 minutes to seal in the flavor. Flip wings frequently. Remove wings from grill.
  • Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing, celery and carrots. Optional to add remaining hot wing sauce on the side and use as a dip for veggies or French bread! Enjoy!!

I love using Walmart in preparation for all my game day grocery shopping! Walmart’s Online Grocery Pickup and Delivery service is the key to my success! I have found that Walmart’s pricing beats other competitors, like Kroger, while also providing great quality of both fresh and pantry ingredients. For example, my shopping cart below was $5.49 cheaper at Walmart over Kroger!

With COVID, we love that Walmart’s pickup process is contactless. Simply notify Walmart in their app that you have arrived to the store, pop the trunk and your groceries are loaded up for you. The pickup service is free and there are no additional fees or markup on your purchase! Freshness is guaranteed; if you are not 100% satisfied then you can get your money back. Walmart also offers a convenient delivery service!

Live your life joyfully so,

Ashley
