I cannot believe we are two weeks away from Christmas! In the spirit of the season I am doing a holiday question and answer session today, with questions prompted by a friend. Today also includes a less-traditional gold baroque outfit. I love a mix on metallics and prints for the holiday season!
This Q&A is part of a holiday segment tagged by others. Tagging The Babbling Blondes, Lace and Sparkles, Missouri Magnolia, Megan Tamplin and Anita Ford to do the same!
What is your favorite holiday tradition?
My all-time favorite tradition is Black Friday shopping with my Mom. Not because of the actual materialistic aspect, but because we wake up early, go on a mission together, indulge in delicious snacks and have lots of laughs. This has been our post-Thanksgiving routine as long as I can remember and I hope that never changes!
What is your favorite go-to winter lip product?
The Dior Addict Lip Maximizer! It adds collagen creating full, smooth, plump lips in a season that your lips need hydration most! Apply it by itself or over lipstick. Your lips will thank you.
What is your favorite winter scent?
Do fresh baked goods count? Dreaming of apple pie and chocolate chip cookies brings me back to days of baking with friends and family. During the holidays you will also find my house with candles and diffusers that smell of pine, cloves, citrus and cinnamon.
What is your go-to winter fashion trend?
Bring on the sequins! Adding a little glitz and glamour with accents of gold sequins is my favorite way to dress up winter. Whether it’s a sequin belt, skirt or sequin embellishments on a sweater – I am all about sequins in the winter!
What is your all time favorite holiday movie?
I love Home Alone! The original was released around the time I was in kindergarten, and I remember standing in line with my family outside of the movie theater so excited to see it. Even today it is still a favorite!
What is your all time favorite holiday tune?
Oh this is tough because my Christmas music collection is bigger than my regular music collection! I love Celine Dion’s Christmas album for the memories. Her voice used to echo through my Aunt’s house on Christmas Day as we laughed with family and opened presents. As of today, Carrie Underwood’s Oh Holy Night is one of the most beautiful holiday songs I have ever heard.
Do you prefer to travel or stay home for the holidays?
Take me back to my roots to my parent’s house in Missouri. I think everyone can agree Christmas does not feel complete without family and spending the holiday at my childhood home will probably always be my perfect Christmas. Unfortunately work does not allow me to always go home but I am excited and overjoyed to be welcomed into my boyfriend’s house for a cozy Christmas Eve.
What is your favorite winter skin care must have?
I love a good facial moisturizer.
What is your favorite winter hair care product?
Living in Texas, we still have humidity unlike other areas of the country in winter. In true Texas fashion, I love volumizers. I play around with a lot of different types but I love Drybar’s Triple Sec the most, currently. This Oribe spray is next on my list!
What is your favorite winter activity?
Sledding and skiing! I love being outdoors in the snow. There is something so peaceful about being outdoors in a white winter wonderland. Life slows down when stressors become covered by a fluffy white blanket.
What is your favorite must have winter beauty product?
I am obsessed with the Lancome Plum Crayon! I will use it for contouring my lip or as a lipstick, topped with the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer. The latter is my everyday winter lip routine on days off work.
Do you love or dislike the snow?
Bring on the snow!!
What is one item on your wish list this year?
A gold bracelet. Not necessarily real gold but something to go with my other gold accessories that I can wear for everyday use.
What is your favorite holiday treat?
My friend introduced me to Chocolate Whiskey Truffles and holidays have never been the same since. If you need an easy homemade holiday treat, these are perfect for parties!
Do you finish your holiday shopping before December or are you a last minute shopper?
A little of both. My mom and I knock out a lot of our shopping on Black Friday usually. This year has been extremely busy so I am more behind schedule. Santa’s elves are on it though, and it will all be ready on time for Christmas morning!
A little about this gold baroque outfit: These pants are under $30 currently and going quickly! My top is old (original on Poshmark here and here), but there are a few similar options linked below!
I hope y’all are having a wonderful holiday season!
Live your life joyfully so,
Ashley
