Delicious caprese salads have become one of my favorite summer staples. I love it as an appetizer or a meal with prosciutto. It’s easy to prepare and tastes amazing. Since there are only a few ingredients used, it is important to only use high-quality and fresh ingredients.
Caprese salad can easily be created into delicious hors d’oeuvres or an on-the-go snack in a few quick steps.
2 cups balsamic vinegar
3.5” bamboo party picks
Cherry-sized mozzarella balls
Fresh basil leaves
Cherry tomatoes, stems removed
Olive oil
Salt and pepper
Balsamic Glaze: Put balsamic vinegar in a medium sized pot. Bring to a boil, reduce to low heat. Cook for about 10-15 minutes until vinegar becomes a glaze. Allow to cool.
Hors D’oeuvres: Take a bamboo party pick and skew on mozzarella ball, then basil leaf, then cherry tomato. If you are serving these to stand up, place the stem side of the tomato down.
Drizzle one part balsamic glaze and one part olive oil, separately, over hors d’oeuvres. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Bite-sized hors d’oeuvres are just one of many ways to enjoy caprese salads. For my other caprese salad fans, how do you like your caprese salad served?
