When we visited Australia we noticed many of the local cafes were offering muesli. As someone who’s favorite meal is breakfast, I quickly became curious about this food. Muesli is similar to granola, with its grain base plus added fruits and nuts, however muesli does not contain the amount of butter, oils and sugars that traditional granolas will carry. It is commonly eaten as a cereal, on top of yogurt, in a smoothie bowl or by itself.

Valentine’s Day Gifts: for her
Hey y’all! Happy middle of the week, I hope your week has started off nicely. Valentines Day is less than a month away, and people are starting to consider sharing gifts with their loved ones. Not everyone exchanges gifts, and that’s perfectly alright. To those who do, I’m here to help by rounding up an assortment of gift ideas for him and her. Today, my focus is on my ladies! There are so many great things online and in store currently – winter items on sale and spring new releases! For my single ladies, don’t hesitate to treat yourself on this day! Everyone is worthy of pampering!
French Onion Soup
At the end of a cold, winter day, I often crave warm soup and comfort clothes. Lately I have loved French onion soup, largely for the fact I enjoy covering it with cheese covered baguette “croutons”. And (confession) eating a dozen cheesy croutons before I even sit down with my soup!
Piña Colada Cake
It may be freezing temperatures outside, but that doesn’t hold me back from having a tropical dessert. Y’all, this piña colada cake is amazing! This was my mom’s idea, and we had a great time making it. (She may have accidentally spilled the wine bottle in the cake mix…)
Soft Muted Bouquet
No matter the occasion, a fresh bouquet of flowers always makes my heart skip a beat. They put a smile on my face and create a serene environment in the house. Not surprisingly, evidence has shown that the power of the flower can bring immediate happiness to recipients of all ages. Flowers have the ability to transform a room, bringing positive, welcoming feelings to those who enter the room. Because of this, flowers are often my go-to gift for friends or occasional splurge on myself to leave around the house.
Strawberry-Pistachio Bark
Hey y’all! It was a true winter weekend here in Texas – with snow and all! It had been a couple years since I last saw snow, so I fully embraced the flurries with a warm fire, mug filled with hot cocoa and fur slippers. My sweet aunt and uncle were in town from Nebraska and they were kind enough to take me out for barbecue at Pecan Lodge – my favorite Dallas barbecue! Tonight I enjoyed the leftovers and finished my meal off with some homemade strawberry-pistachio bark.
