As we move deeper into the autumn months, the temperatures and humidity both begin to decline. These changes can affect your skin in the process. Help your skin acclimate to the climate changes with these skin care tips for autumn!
Skin Care Tips for Autumn
- Change your moisturizer from a lotion to a cream or ointment. A general rule of thumb is moisturizers that have to be “scooped out” provide a higher level of moisture therapy to your skin in comparison to moisturizers that are “pumped” out.
- Bring on the pumpkin! Yes, really! Pumpkin is loaded with Vitamin A and Vitamin C, both of which provide a load of benefits to the skin. Apply a pumpkin mask, like this one, to revitalize your skin and complexion. Or use a cream with pumpkin seed oil, which provides anti-oxidants that combat fine lines.
- Continue wearing sunscreen. Protect your beautiful skin from dangerous and age-inducing UV radiation. SPF 30-50 should do the trick. Don’t forget your lip balms that include sunscreen too!
- For longer time periods in the sun, bring a brimmed hat and sunglasses. Football games and afternoons at the pumpkin patch are fun, add a little protective, stylish statement your outfit to protect your scalp and eyes. Part lines in our hair can be difficult for sunscreen application, but a hat is an easy solution.
- Layer on a hand cream too. Protect your hands (and cuticles) from cracking with a moisture rich hand cream, like this hypo-allergenic cream that can provide up to 24 hours of protection. Hand cream does not have to be expensive – one dermatologist’s trick is simply to use vaseline on hands and nails!
- Exfoliate your skin every few days. Accomplish this with an exfoliating cleanser, brush or pad. Your skin still needs a little exfoliation love, but remember to apply a moisturizer soon after.
